Character Info

◎ Character's Name: Leorio Paladiknight
◎ Character's Canon: Hunter x Hunter
◎ Character's Age: 21
◎ Canon Point: Between the 13th chairman arc and the Dark Continent arc
◎ Background/History: Hunter x Hunter Wikia
◎ Is the character a hacker and/or do they have a sixth-sense? Nope!

◎ Personality:

Leorio's basic personality is one you've probably dealt with in your life - he's the guy with the rough exterior that's actually really funny, lively, and friendly when you get to know him. His crankiness and short fuse are due to his honest and simple nature, he's easy to read (and manipulate, if you're so inclined) but also incredibly trustworthy if you earn his first. Though he can be kind of dumb, he's street smart, skilled at things like haggling. He also came up with a good way to con a lot of people using Gon's nen abilities.

As becoming rich is one of his primary goals, Leorio likes to come off as a freewheeling, money-grubbing narcissist. However, the truth is that he's not quite so shallow... it is soon revealed that his obsession with wealth is because he grew up in an extremely poor country and had a friend die from an illness that could have been treated if he was able to afford it. This fueled his dream to become a doctor and open a clinic that works pro-bono for those who are in a similar situation. Several characters have commented on his skill at this, the navigators of the Hunter Exam praising his first aid talent and constant reassurance. Another character with emotion-reading abilities called him warm and gentle.

Like many teenage guys, he has a bad habit of thinking with his dick, the most jarring of this is when he deliberately lost an important betting game for the chance to touch a woman to 'confirm her sex'. Even though said woman was a prison inmate. Needless to say, he's fairly lacking in class as well. Combine that with a diarrhea of the mouth and you get a guy who casually mentions jerking off in the middle of an important speech before hundreds of his peers. He's impulsive in his actions as well as his words, and it can land him in ridiculous situations.

Regardless of his many flaws, though, Leorio is an extremely caring and thoughtful guy. He was always rather sidelined in the plot because he was only studying medicine while his friends were out saving the world or seeking revenge, and he felt guilty for not doing more for them. The arc of canon that focused on him was about politics rather than violence, and he spent it doing whatever he could to rescue Gon, who was dying in the hospital - given the opportunity to become the Hunter Chairman, he was irritated by the shenanigans leading up to it, but claimed that as Chairman he would use the entire Hunter Association to find a way to save him. Not to mention, the way he got into that position in the first place was by telling off Gon's father, a hated public official, for not visiting him - and punching him in the face! He gained a ton of support by his fellow hunters just by being himself in a moment of emotion, and it sprung him into many other opportunities.

◎ Powers/Abilities: Leorio can use Nen, a common yet complex technique in the Hunter x Hunter world that allows for the use and manipulation of one's aura. The basics of nen can be used for many things as outlined in the wiki, and it also has great customization for individuals. Leorio's Nen ability is to create small warp portals through objects - for example, to punch someone in the face through their table, but the ability was actually designed to help him perform surgery. He also has an informed ability of using ultrasound-like aura pulses to detect other people in the area, or to locate abnormalities in the human body.

◎ Weapons & Other Special Inventory: His weapon of choice, a knife, as well as a kit full of medical tools. He also has his Hunter License, for all the good that will do him.

CEREALIA-Specific

◎ Element: Air - because he's full of hot air! It has the volatility without the destructiveness, and also is associated with communication. Since his only arc was about politics, yeah.
◎ Sense: Touch - As a doctor this is very important for him to use, but he's also a bit of a pleasure seeker so it's even more so.
◎ Seven Character Traits: (kindhearted, enterprising, passionate) | (grouchy, impulsive, libidinous) + simple

Being a newcomer to the planet, and not too keen with the job he'd been assigned by ViViD to do, Leorio took it upon himself - as a hunter! - to scout out the rest of the city for something that would better serve the kickstarting of his medical career. It was a busy day of visiting and occasionally pestering the locals, and he did not set on returning to his shiny new apartment until he felt that a lead or two had been found. Still, it was hard to find satisfaction in it, if only because he felt like he was already on his second chance without even reaching the conclusion of his first chance. And somehow, he was there while not all of his friends from home were, and he couldn't help but think this was the chairman elections all over again. They got the wrong guy for the job, the idiots - anyone would be better, especially looking at who he surrounded himself with. Leorio was the most useless of the pack. But if he had to be here, then he was damn well going to continue what he'd started - become a doctor among interdimensional refugees, maybe get to save some people saving the world. He could live with that, scary as it was.

As deep in thought as he was, though, he was attempting to stay alert of his surroundings - none were more dubious such as these. As he passed an alley, he peered into it to be sure that there would be no trouble coming. Instead, he saw something that alarmed him - the beaten body of a dog among the trash. Someone had just thrown it away in plain sight! While veterinary work was not exactly what he was looking for, Leorio found himself unable to ignore it. He crouched down to check if it was dead or alive. Sensing a human, it moved its head, whining - a mix of animal and mechanical. It certainly didn't sound good, but it was something.

"Whoa... so you're not dead yet, huh?" Leorio shook his head. "What kind of bastard- all right, don't move, poochy!"

"Woof?" was its only response as the tall human opened a medkit and started fishing around for something. It watched him with a facade of curiosity. Soon, Leorio triumphantly held up a roll of bandages.

"Okay! It's not much, but I can patch you up a little and then we can get you something to eat! Just once, though, I don't need a pet!"

"Beep!" It responded cheerfully. Leorio stared.

"Uh, what did you just say?"

"Woof."

"..." Leorio looked between the dog and the bandages. Did he just imagine that? Was it a real dog or ... some kind of machine? Wouldn't it be stupid to put bandages on a robot? But he'd also heard something about hallucinations in one of the parts of town. He forgot which. Anyway, the dog was looking up at him and its tail was wagging. He gave it a suspicious look.

"Oh, to hell with it..." He'd just bandage it anyway. It wasn't like he couldn't replace them, and it would probably help it walk better, even if it was a robot. Leorio sighed and began wrapping its leg, though he looked over his shoulder a couple times to make sure no one was seeing this. What the hell kind of world did he end up on?
